Book Group "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx

Hi Everyone

This month the book is "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx.

Just like the previous meetings we will meet at 19h and start talking and debating.

It can be difficult to find each other in the Festival Hall. Here is a map of where we usually meet.
Being creatures of habit, we have been meeting behind the shop, underneath the stairs. Area 2 on the map!

Don't forget! You can bring your own drinks and food!

As usual you can find it on Amazon. Don't forget to use the link from the BHA's website. This book is free to download for Kindle users.

Oops. Didn't notice the date change. Wondered where everyone was! Can't make tomorrow unfortunately but glad I read the book. Thanks Steve for the recommendation.

Not a problem. I should have checked. I hung around for a bit just in case anyone else got the dates wrong but didn't see anyone I recognised.

Hi Mary. Planning on coming to the next one if I can get the dates right! And yes that's me finishing the marathon.

Unfortunately I'm unable to make the book group now. I hope it goes well, and look forward to getting the low-down :-)

Many of the YouTube videos on Marx and his theories are too heavy for me ... but I found this BBC documentary just at my level

I just found the first free one. Don't know about which version is best. I guess the reaction and history will be fascinating

I don't normally do book 'things' like this, but this one sounds interesting since I've never read it. So is this pdf version given here the one to read, cos I just did a search on Amazon for "The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx" and it came up with 2757 results. Perhaps we should all be reading the same version to avoid confusion? Or maybe that might make the event more entertaining!

Any recommendations on which publication to get? I don't know much about the political situation of the time so the commentary will probably be quite useful to me.

Great choice for a book. You can read the pamphlet in 45 mins. The commentary takes longer to read.

The last sentence is a moving as the last sentence in Darwin's "On the Origin of Species"
