Libel Law Reform and an Evidence-Based Society
A talk by Sile Lane from Science about Science

Wednesday 20th October 2010, 6.30pm
Hughes Parry Hall (Chancellor's Room), Garden Halls, 19/26 Cartwright Gardens WC1H 9EF, London

RSVP here:

The Central London Humanist Group are pleased to host a talk by Sile Lane from Science about Science, an independent charitable trust campaigning for better science in public debates and a more evidence-based society.

Sile, who acts as the organisation?s Public Liaison, will be a familiar name to CLHG members who followed Simon Singh?s long battle against the British Chiropractic Association this year. Sile headed up the Keep Libel Laws out of Science campaign in response to this case, and she will talk about the journey towards libel reform at the meeting.

She will also talk more broadly about Science about Science's work with scientists to engage the public and respond to inaccuracies in public claims about science, medicine, and technology.

6.30pm start at our usual venue in Bloomsbury (see map etc below). 8pm finish followed by optional discussion in nearby pub.

This event will be chaired by CLHG member and scientist, Kate Scott
