Join the CLHG to see Inherit The Wind, a play about the Scopes Monkey Trial running at the Old Vic Theatre.

Read about the play here: http://www.oldvictheatre.com/whatson.php?id=55

Confirmed by the poll, we will see the Wednesday Sept 30th performance at 7.30pm.

If you would like to come along, please book your ticket directly via the Old Vic website.

Ticket prices vary from ?10 - ?48.50, and information about concessions can be found here.

Tickets are going very quickly with only a few left, so I advise you to book as soon as you can.

Since we will be scattered around for the performance, I suggest that we met in the nearby Windmill Tavern pub beforehand from 6pm. They serve food so if you want to grab a bite to eat before the show you can.

A map of the pub can be found here (it also shows the Old Vic's location). You can see a streetview here.

Hope to see you there!

Kevin Spacey David Troughton Inherit The Wind

When science teacher Bertram Cates violates a state law he finds himself at the centre of a court case that not only shakes the United States but resonates across the world.

Considered one of the great American plays of the twentieth century Lawrence and Lee?s gripping, relevant drama is inspired by the famous Scopes ?Monkey Trial?. In 1925 school teacher John Scopes stood accused of violating a Tennessee statute by teaching Darwin?s theory of evolution to his students. Two legal Titans confront each other when this close knit community puts freedom of thought on trial.

A film version of the play released in 1960 starring Spencer Tracy and Gene Kelly received four Academy Award nominations. This production marks the 150th Anniversary of the publication of Darwin?s ?The Origin of Species?.

??He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind:
and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart??

(Proverbs 11:29)

Award-winning Director Trevor Nunn directs an outstanding ensemble cast including Kevin Spacey and David Troughton in this fascinating slice of American history played out in a thrilling courtroom drama.

Aside from his musical credits ? which include smash hits such as Cats, Les Mis?rables and Starlight Express ? Trevor Nunn was Artistic Director of the RSC for eighteen years and in 1996 become Artistic Director of the National Theatre. His most recent credits include Hamlet (Old Vic), King Lear and The Seagull (RSC) and A Little Night Music in the West End.

Old Vic Artistic Director Kevin Spacey has appeared in A Moon for the Misbegotten, Richard II and Speed the Plow at The Old Vic.
