Central Missouri Riders Pages

WELCOME!!! We are the Central Missouri Riders MeetUp group. We are made up of men and women who love the open road, the breeze in our face, and the sun on our backs. In other words, WE LOVE TO RIDE!!!! We also love to meet new folks and possibly form new, but lasting friendships. If you are contemplating joining this group, or if you have already joined, I would like to encourage you to read on and find out more about us.

WE ARE NOT A CLUB AND NO ONE IS IN CHARGE. There are no officers, leaders or dues to pay. There are no mandatory meetings to attend and no one will be after you to “volunteer” your services. There are organizers that post rides and events, maintain the site and help moderate the message board. But this site is for you, the rider.

This is a Riding/Riders Group.

Meaning the principal purpose is Riders, and Riding. While we do post event’s on our calendar such as Poker Runs, Bike Nights, Bike Fest and Rallies, and other events that may be of interest to our members, but not necessarily considered “rides”. We do this to give members a variety of options. We may have members that prefer their ride consist of riding to an event and riding home. That’s fine, and one of the main reasons we post all the different events. These events can be fun, and a lot of members do attend, but keep in mind that our main goal is RIDING!

This is a group that rides motorcycles. It is NOT A BAR HOPPING GROUP, although we might visit them occasionally. It is NOT A PARTY GROUP, although we do have parties from time to time. It is NOT A DATING SITE. If however, people want to hang out with each other, go for it. If it does not work out, be adults about it and leave the drama out of the group. WE RIDE BIKES HERE.

This site is NOT to be used for advertising your dating websites. We will not allow such posts. If we feel you are using this site just to promote a dating site or anything of that nature, you will be removed and marked as spam.

WE WELCOME EVERYONE!!! It does not matter what kind of bike you ride, you are welcome here. In fact, you don’t even have to own a bike to join. Some events can be attended in any type of vehicle. But keep in mind, we are a Riding group. There is no age or experience level restrictions. We try to set up rides for all skill levels from long, all day rides to shorter rides. All or welcome. .

SO YOU DON’T, OR CAN’T RIDE MUCH That‘s OK. You don’t have to go on rides to be a part of the group. You are more than welcome to participate on the message board.

WE ONLY HAVE A FEW SIMPLE RULES. Be respectful of fellow members on the message board. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and a right to voice that opinion in a courteous and respectful manner. Organizers do have the ability to delete or edit a post if someone gets out of line. There is nothing wrong with a good debate on the message board. We only ask that you refrain from using derogatory remarks against other members. Please, NO CRY BABIES ON THE MESSAGE BOARD. If you have a concern, post it with respect or email an Organizer. We are here to have fun NOT to complain.

Also see below for a few common sense rules on RSVPing, and attending a ride.
We have a few “common sense” rules when group riding or when leading a group. These can be found in the Table Of Contents. Please review these guidelines.

AFTER YOU JOIN, please fill out your profile page, upload a picture of you, your bike, or both. (this is not mandatory, just suggested). However, it is the best way for a ride organizer to recognize you when you show up at a ride for the first time. We do understand that not everyone has the ability to upload photos. If you have been on a ride, and your picture turns up in the photo’s, just email the person who took the picture and ask if you can use it on your profile. Go to the message board and introduce yourself. This is the best way for members to get to know you before they meet you, and for you to know the other members. Let other members know who you are. Then just make yourself at home.

Check out the threads on the message board and jump right in with your opinions. Look at our members list, you may already know someone. Check out the calendar of upcoming events and RSVP to any you want to join in on. Email any of the Organizers if you have a suggestion for a meetup ride, information on a rally, bike night, or poker run that you would like posted. Just remember that you get out of this group what you put into it so jump right in and get acquainted with everyone.

RE-READ MEETUP.COM’S terms of service, especially section 6. You agreed to it in order to use this site. You may not have read it, but you had to check the box that said you did. In general, section 6 says if an organizer or any member places a ride on the calendar and you get lost or something, it's your own fault.

LIABILITY YOU bear sole responsibility for everything and anything that happens on any ride with us. Organizers, CMR. as a whole and are not liable or responsible for anything.

Everyone is here voluntarily and of their own free will. You bear the responsibility for any passengers you take on your motorcycle. You ride at your own risk.

Ride your own ride! If for some reason you are not comfortable with any aspect of the ride or the destination, it is expected that you leave the group and proceed on your own. Please let either the lead Rider or Sweep Bike know that you are dropping out.

RSVP YES The organizers of this group have put a lot of time and effort into posting rides and events. If you are interested in attending one of these, please RSVP, so the ride host will know to expect you. The last thing anyone wants to do is ride off without someone. Please try to be on time so the group won’t have to wait. If you have to change your RSVP, please do so as soon as possible. The ride host will do their best to post any last moment changes so please check the messages for the event before you leave.

GROUP RIDES. If you have never been on a group ride, it can be a little intimidating at first. We have several “seasoned” riders that are willing to answer your questions and . ease your concerns. If you have any questions, email the host prior to the ride. It is very important that you arrive prepared and ready to ride without any hesitations. Above all, you need to be responsible for your own riding and comfortable with the ride. If you plan on leaving the ride before the end destination, make sure you tell someone prior to leaving. Please read the MeetUp Etiquette located in the Table of Contents for more info on how rides are structured.

SUGGESTING A MEETUP RIDE OR EVENT. Before you suggest a ride, please read the Meetup Etiquette listed under the table of contents so you will know what is expected of you when planning a ride. If you have a favorite route and would like to host a ride, plan it out with a date and time you will meet , where you will meet, ride details such as the route you will take, if you will stop for food, and where, the ride codes, (please see “Ride Codes” in the table of contents for an explanation) and any other information about the ride. The more info you give will let members know what to expect and more will RSVP yes. If it is to vague, some members might be hesitant to go. Email the info to any of the organizers and we will be happy to post it. If you have an event you would like posted, email all the information OR a link to a web site with the info, to an organizer for posting.

If you see an event that is not posted as a meetup, and you would like to turn it into one, just email one of the organizers and it can be easily changed.

WE ARE NOT MIND READERS While this group has a great bunch of Organizers with a lot of great talents, the one talent none of us has is reading minds. We set up rides we THINK the group would like to go on, or rides that we personally want to do. BUT this is YOUR group!! If you don’t like the rides we have set up, (to long, to short, been there done that) then email us with your suggestions. We have no way of knowing what you want unless you tell us. If you are hesitant to email us with a ride suggestion because you don’t feel comfortable leading the ride, let us know that in the email. One of the Organizers will lead the ride, and if we can’t, we will post it and ask for a ride leader. It’s just that simple!!! No offense to anyone, but if you don’t go on rides or send us suggestions, please don’t get on the message board and whine about the rides we post.

POLITICS We leave the politics to those groups that do it best. The Freedom Of The Road Riders is one group that comes to mind. They do a great job of lobbing for riders rights and pushing laws through to help us. We all appreciate what they do for us. But in this group you will never be asked to attend a political rally, sign a petition, donate to a fund, and the organizers will not try and push their political views off on the group.

That being said, we are not opposed to discussions on the message board about upcoming bills or laws that effect the rider. We had a great discussion over the helmet law while it was being debated on. We will post any events that are of interest to riders, that could be considered political, such as, a rally at the Capital in support of the Freedom Of The Road Riders efforts to repeal the helmet law. Just because it is posted, does not mean we agree or disagree with the porpoise of the event. It simply means that it is an event of interest to riders, so you decide if you want to attend.

FEES Yes there is a fee for this web site. While it is not a lot, it is still being paid for out of someone’s pocket. As of now, the organizers are paying the fee. We are working on planning a poker run that will be an annual event to help cover the cost, plus give you a chance to win prizes. If you are a member participating in anyway, please consider attending the annual event.

TO MANY EMAILS automatically sends out reminder emails on ALL events posted, along with emails asking you to rate the MeetUp. With as many events as we have on our calendar, this can add up to quite a few emails. If you would like to turn this feature off, please see “To Many Emails” in the Table Of Contents for instructions on how to turn it off all or part of the notifications. Just remember that if you do, you will not get the emails and may miss something. So visit the site often, as we add events weekly, some of which may be posted at the last moment.

MOST IMPORTANT is to have fun!! We sincerely hope you will enjoy being a part of this group, and that you will jump right in there and make yourself at home. If you have any questions or concerns about the group, either prior to joining or afterwards, don’t hesitate to email one of the organizers. We are happy to have you and hope to see you soon out on the road.

I would like to thank John Fox of Phoenix Motorcycle Riders Group as portions of the page were pretty much plagiarized from his site (which is ok by him) but put it in my own words. Thanks for the ideas.
