Glass-blowing at Glass Axis

I visited this shop a few weeks ago, and it's a lot of fun to shoot -- great subject matter and lots of interesting light. If we scare up 15 people, they'll have an instructor do a glass-blowing demo for us, and we might be able to catch some other activities going on at / around the same time.

I'd like to keep the group size small so we can move around and shoot without getting in one another's way too much, but if there's enough interest, we can certainly schedule another tour later. The cost for the tour is pretty reasonable - $4 per person if we've got 15 people, but you're on your own in the gift shop!

If you've been working on your flash photography, this is also a good place to practice. There are two banks of furnaces there, and flash comes in handy on both sides. On the side away from the windows, you'll want a little extra light to help augment the indoor lighting, and on the side by the windows, a little fill flash can be helpful.

Here are a couple photos to give you a taste of what you'll see:

I haven't gone on any outings with this group in awhile and was really excited about going to Glass Axis today. Thank you for planning. it. I thoroughly enjoyed taking photos here with one exception, it was difficult to move around and get as many as I wanted to because of space limitations. I think because of the minimum number of people there were not options to alleviate this concern. Also, I was glad that we were on the side facing all the windows for good light.

I really wanted to go to this event, but realize I overbooked my schedule. I'm changing my RSVP to "No" if someone else wants to go. Can't wait to see the photos
