March Monthly Meeting - Cython and Lightning Talks

Details
We will be meeting at Pillar, at the Launchpad, which is down the hall to the left and where we met last month (there will be signs). Pillar will provide food and drink (thanks Pillar!).
Informal meeting starts at 6pm, with the talk starting at 6:30pm. We will finish no later than 8:30pm to adjourn to the informal meeting.
James Bonanno will present on Cython. Cython is an optimising static compiler for both the Python programming language and the extended Cython programming language (based on Pyrex). It makes writing C extensions for Python as easy as Python itself. Compared to Shedsking, Pythran, Numba, and PyPy, Cython offers the most versatility and power for increasing performance of Python applications. His talk will cover the basics of using Cython and how to compile a basic program and run it.
As always, if there is time, we welcome your short talks on any Python-related topics, big or small. It's a great, low commitment way to help you over your public speaking fears!
