Talk functional javascript!

After reading http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920028857.do and watching videos from a few other meet ups http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3svKOdZijA I got pretty excited about functional programming.

If any one else is interested in functional programming in Javascript, we should unite and merrily discuss how fond we are of it!

This meet up could range from a hands on, baby steps introduction to functional programming where we learn together, or a show and tell if any one else already has their hands dirty!

Sorry, last spam message! If any one wants to talk more about functional javascript, I am always in #functional.javascript on freenode (as well as #cville)

Kevin, that was an excellent presentation last night. Really well organized. The conceptual build up made things easy to follow, and I loved the final demo. I'm totally going to look for reasons to use _.compose() wherever I can now.

    Hey All!

If all goes well I want to try out some live code! I set up a functional playground that we will use at the meetup. Feel free to play around with it. http://jsbin.com/umoK/1/edit?output

Again, if any one else wants to talk at the meetup, please do :)

We (Private Practice) could host this, and potentially provide food, at our office on 7th St. We're generally open to any date.

Who else would want to talk / share at this meetup? I can present on the differences between currying and partial applications and how they both work nicely with composing functions.

      Count me in.

I like it! Maybe start out talking about using underscore methods to bring functional aspects to traditional javascript (first half) and then in the second half explore differences between currying and partial applications and how they both work nicely with composing functions.
