My name is Chad Parker, and I've been making sterling jewelry for about 18 years, and teaching people how to make it since 2003. I have three levels of classes, beginning, intermediate, and advanced. The classes meet for 4 hours, once per week, and go for 5 weeks. In the beginning class, students create 5 projects, 3 different rings, and two substantially different styles of pendant. The skills taught include, hard silver soldering, bezel setting of stones, shaping and cutting silver, polishing, and jewelry design. Students who complete the beginner class have all the skills to go out on their own and start producing products on their own. The intermediate students make a bracelet, a wide band ring, and a third project of their choosing, while the advanced class focuses on skills like setting faceted stones, both bezel and prong settings, hinges, spinner rings, and other advanced techniques.
