Cloudera Invasion - Continuous Integration (Overview+Jenkins) & Impala

Two meetups in one quarter! Oh my...Save the date!

The awesome folks from Cloudera will be gracing our group to talk about some hot topics in the open source community. Come find out why they are more than just buzzwords. All levels welcome!

Two topics -

1 - Intro to Continuous Integration (+Jenkins demo)
In this talk you'll learn what continuous integration (CI) means and what benefits it can provide to your software projects and your team. You'll see how CI fits in with other software development practices, including those from agile development. Finally, you'll see how Jenkins and other tools can help you make CI happen.
Presenter - Bill Havanki is a Solutions Architect for Cloudera focusing on development for Apache Accumulo, a high-performance key/value store that runs on top of Apache Hadoop. He is an Accumulo committer and PMC member. Before coming to Cloudera, Bill worked for fifteen years as a software engineer designing and developing middleware, security, and analytic systems for the Department of Defense. He was born and raised in New Jersey and knows his exits exactly. He currently resides on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland with his wife and two daughters. His hobbies include video games, running poorly, Eastern philosophy, and collecting Transformers … the robot kind.

2 - Impala (Overview AND Demo!)
Cloudera Impala provides a fast, ad hoc query capability to Apache Hadoop, complementing traditional MapReduce batch processing. Learn the design choices and architecture behind Impala, and how to use near-ubiquitous SQL to explore your own data at scale.
Presenter - Alex Moundalexis, Solutions Architect at Cloudera. Alex spends his time federal customers get their Hadoop clusters up and running properly. Before entering the land of Big Data, Alex spent the better part of ten years wrangling Linux server farms and writing Perl as a contractor to the Department of Defense and Department of Justice. A Maryland native, he likes onion rings, shiny objects, and Oxford commas.

Q&A throughout the meetup and open discussion at the end. We'll have some snacks and beer (+juice, soda, etc.). If you have a dietary restriction/request, message me.

Venue -

Advertising.com office in Locust Point. We are on the Under Armour campus; Ivory Building
1020 Hull Street
Baltimore, MD  21230

Impala seemed pretty cool. The demo fell apart a bit, but I got the general idea of what was going on.

Thanks for organizing this great event!

Re: future event content, I'd be happy to help out with some kind of Linux Beginners' Fest with stuff like:
    -Installation Parties
    -Bash Tutorials
-Wine Intro (we could get pizza and call it a Wine 'n Dine)
