INTRODUCTION TO WORLD DRUM AND CHANT
Part 2 of 6: The African & Afro Caribbean Drum - the rhythms that changed Neopaganism in America.
A multi-part introduction to the some many and varied traditions and techniques that make up the rich tapestry of percussion that is an intergral part of ritual and ceremony throughout the world. Also exploring the significant differences between drumming for festival and drum circles and for supporting ritual and ceremony. This will be Hands and voice ON. A few instruments may be available, but do bring your kit!
Drumming to the Gods, Open Drum Circle - 5-7pm
Come to either and learn sumptin' or just Drum Out.
Or come to both and widen your head and get some spirit buzz.
We are requesting pass-the-hat donations — for gas money and keepin' the lights on at MR. Kick in what you can!
You do not need to attend all the sessions, each unit is intended to be directly accessible, but material will build on content in each topic session. So just like real life, the more you attend the more you'll learn!
Facilitated by Kurt Griffith/Talking Stone
Singer, Bard, Native Practitioner and Drummer.
