Chattanooga Hiking Meetup Message Board › TIME ZONES FOR EVENTS

Just to help clarify what time zone our events are posted in ....

ALL events posted through CHM will ALWAYS be Eastern time. Originally we tried to post based on the time zone of where the event was, but then people got confused and either showed up an hour early or an hour late. (depending on how they interpreted the start time). So, we decided that since the club is based out of Chattanooga, and Chattanooga is in the Eastern time zone, regardless of where the event takes place, it will always be indicated according to Eastern time on CHM.

ex. we had an event at Russell Cave in northeast Alabama (great place by the way). Although the particular event took place in the central time zone at 5pm, that would have been 6pm Eastern, so we posted the event as 6pm on our site.

So, anytime you see an event posted on CHM.... even if the actual location of the event takes place in a different time zone, all times will reflect Eastern time.

Hope this helps clarify things.
