Talk 1 : Evgeny Zislis, DevopsPro UK - "Using Chef to scale MongoDB sharded clusters"

The cloud presents many opportunities to use APIs for acquiring virtual hardware resources, servers, storage volumes and networking. This talk will show how to create a very big cluster of MongoDB sharded replica sets with the many considerations required for its operation coded using Chef. The talk will go over using Chef to provision AWS resources, managing secrets and shared data using data bags and vault, and the operations aspects of managing a large MongoDB cluster. These are lessons we learned creating such a cluster for a client who wanted to move from using a MongoDB as a service to their own servers in AWS.

Evgeny Zislis is the CTO and co-founder at DevopsPro UK and at Devops Israel. For the last decade he has been involved in helping and teaching developers in companies big and small get a better handle on the operations side of software.

Talk 2 : Louis McCormack, Space Ape Games - "Chef, Consul and Vault"

A brief look at how Space Ape Games use Hashicorp's Consul and Vault products together with Chef. These technologies might not seem an obvious pairing, but we'll run through the whys and wherefores, and see how together they've enabled us to solve problems and level-up security on our growing platform.

A big thank you to Space Ape Games for hosting this event.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!
