ES6: Using today's JavaScript today
Details
So for July we're going to look at the new Javascript Standard ES6 aka ES2015. Joe's going to talk about the language features and how to use it now, then I'm going to demo using ES6 with AngularJS and we'll have a go at refactoring a controller from ES5 to ES6 together.
Here's the summary of Joe's talk
JavaScript is growing up. ECMAScript 2015, aka ES6, brings expressive features like generators and promises and many other additions that make JavaScript more powerful, elegant and fun to write. There's just one problem - browsers and runtimes don't support all of it yet. This talk introduces the most exciting new features and explores how to use ES6 in production without waiting for vendors to catch up.
Joe Whitfield-Seed is a software developer who loves to learn. He built his first web page in 1998 and hasn't stopped since. He's spent the last 8 years crunching data, building software and trying to work out what "big data" actually means (he doesn't know yet). He's worked on a range of languages and platforms, but he always comes back to the web. His current interests include functional programming, the evolution of the web platform and, of course, JavaScript.
As usual a £3 donation for DeepSpaceWorks is greatly appreciated
See you there
