Join the Campers at Jug Bay for a Paddle or a Hike

There are at least a few of you who don't have the gear or the time to go camping this weekend but still might like to join in the festivities for the day.

Stacey has graciously offered to lead a small group of people out to the camp site on Saturday to join us for a paddle or a hike.

It's a relatively short two mile paddle from the put in to White Oak landing where we will be camping but hopefully we'll be up and fed and ready to have a few of you join us for the day's activities.  The picture above shows the location of the campsite on Mataponi Creek which is only accessible by water.  It's taken from an observation tower a short distance away that is a pretty nice hike to get some awesome views of the area surrounding Jug Bay.

I'm going to try to break us in to smaller groups for the day with various destinations.  White Oak Landing is located on Mataponi Creek which has all sorts of neat places to explore as you paddle further back in when the tide is high.  For those who want a bit more, it's a 12 mile round trip paddle to Spice Creek which is equally interesting.  The current game plan is for Kimmie to come along but depending on how her back is doing she might just hang out at the camp site.  Everyone is welcome to join her for that too if that's what she does.

I am quite literally shooting from the hip without a real plan on this one but I think there will be a couple of options that everyone might enjoy.

If you're interested in helping Stacey heard this group of cats around on the water, please let me know you're willing to volunteer.  Some knowledge of self and assisted rescues would be a really good idea.  A VHF marine radio would be nice.  There will NOT be rentals available for this event.

Hey those of you who braved to forecast to come paddle with us know what a beautiful day it was and how grotesquely inaccurate the weather forecast usually is. Thanks for coming along for the day

What a great idea Chuck - Although I'm working and barbecuing Saturday...I'll be sure and sign up as the weather warms - I'll have to be quick the way your spots fill up :) Cheers,

Schedule changed and we cannot make the trip after all....good news for two on the wait list, I suppose!

Looks like I am going to be heading South for a wedding shower on the 11th so I have to bail. However, if I can work it out, I plan to be kayaking in Florida on the 12th :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
