A PFD (Personal Floatation Device) is required for all of our paddles. Do you have your own PFD or have acces to one?

I always wear my PFD when in the kayak.

Please tell us a little about your previous kayaking experience. It's okay if you don't have a lot of experience.

Mostly tidal rivers and some ponds in a fishing kayak over the past 2 or 3 years.

What kind or type of kayak(s) do you own? If you'll be renting or borrowing from a friend that's okay too. We also have rental kayaks for members to use.

I presently own two fishing kayaks. For the most part I paddle the Ocean Kayaks Prowler 13 which is a 13 foot sit on top. I do, however, see a strong likelihood of purchasing a touring kayak in the future.

Why do you kayak? Some people paddle to relax and get away from it all outdoors, others to stay fit. The real crazies paddle just for the joy and fun of it. What's your reason?

Being on the water is good for my soul. Initially I bought the kayak as a fishing platform. This expanded to using it for photography (another passion I've developed over the past year.)

What do you hope to get out of joining this group? Some people want to improve their paddling skills others just want to socialize with fellow paddlers. Is there anything special you're looking for?

I hope to become a proficient and fit paddler. I want to find new challenges to improve myself. In addition the social aspect of meeting like minded people doing something we enjoy appeals to me.

Introduction

Started out using the kayak as a fishing and photography platform. Now after attending a couple of meetups I'm getting hooked, no pun intended, on kayak touring and hopefully in the future camping.
