Drupal Training Day Mentoring

March 15th is a Drupal training day: http://drupal.org/learn-drupal
A lot of us are professional Drupalers with day jobs so it's difficult to participate.
However, Chris Shattuck of buildamodule.com will open up his training videos for free on Friday.

We should direct people to #CADUG on Freenode IRC and take turns monitoring the chat for people who have questions as they learn remotely that day.

Michelle has set up a google doc for people to register their interest: http://bit.ly/WLkLvC. If there is enough I will post on drupal.org and Chris will also advertise on his site.

We've tried transferring the files from the old site. No success.

Hi Ronnie. Can you hop on the #CADUG IRC to discuss?

Ronnie, please hop into #CADUG on FreeNode for a faster response. However, I would say that the first thing that you need to check is the way that the .htaccess files look and try to figure out the folder structure of the old system.

The version of Drupal he used was a bit older than what GoDaddy uploaded. Is this likely to be a problem?

The previous webmaster had the site on GoDaddy so that's where I signed up.

I just took over an existing website - a bulletin board / everyone gets their own blog site that uses Drupal.

hey guys - how do we start?

I think all we do is join the #CADUG channel on Freenode IRC (see http://drupal.org/irc) and check in every once in a while to see if there are any questions.

I'm outside during the day with fieldtrip, but I should be online later in the day, especially 9pm and later.

The 10-midnight shift is a little awkward, but I volunteer to be around if no one else wants it and we have to cover it. I have something earlier in the evening.

Thanks, Andrew. That would be great.

You can find me @thejamesjones. Will there be a physical meetup place as well?

    March 10, 2013

    • Michelle K.

Not officially. You or any other CADUG-er is welcome to come hang out at the Promet office that day. Shoot me an email if you are interested.

Glad to see so many CADUG-ers stepping up. To clarify how you can participate:
    1. Monitor #CADUG on Friday. That's mostly it. If you are able to hang out in the IRC for any amount of time helping to field questions, please indicate your availability on this google doc: http://bit.ly/WLkLvC. This way we can somewhat ensure that at least one CADUG-er will always be around.

    2. It has also been suggested that we help keep an eye on #Drupal during that day. I think that's a great. We could direct them to other chats if applicable.

    3. Spread the word about online trainings. There are a number of them but we have partnered with buildamodule.com so getting the word out that free training videos are available there and we will be around to answer questions would be a big help.
