Join us for an Elastic meetup on Monday, April 18! We'll have talks from:

• Elastic's Jon Budzenski on "Customizing Kibana"

• Raise's Greg Palmier on "Deploying Elastic with Chef for Production and Development"

Doors open at 6pm. Food, beverages, and great conversation will be provided! Our talks will start at 6:30pm

Customizing Kibana

In this talk we will walk through ways that Kibana can be modified to meet our needs.

We will start by discussing advanced settings that can be used to change colors, change labels, and format data. Next we will setup a development environment and go through several common code modifications. Finally we will take a look at writing our very own Kibana plugin.

Jon Budzenski is a developer on the Kibana team at Elastic. Before joining Elastic, he worked in the finance industry, using JavaScript to help visualize large amounts of data.

Deploying Elastic with Chef for Production and Development

In this talk we will talk about how to deploy Elastic using Chef for use in production, and how to use it to deploy to feature development environments. We'll discuss how this was done with the same mechanism, and how it helps our feature development.

Greg Palmier has been an operations engineer for over 5 years. Before that he worked in circuit design. He spend most of his time helping developers get their work live and learning to actually be able to write software.
