Game-ifying Software Apps to Design User Experiences

  • May 7, 2013 · 6:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

User delight is something that everyone strives for; it becomes even more important as business applications become consumerized, gamified and integrated with social networks. It's no longer acceptable for business applications to look like the business apps of old, they need to follow the same patterns and creative methods that you've come to expect from the latest consumer app. Creating user delight and constantly hitting that emotional note are even more challenging when trying to insert gaming technologies into key business processes for Fortune 500 retailers and manufacturers. This is a challenge that InContext Solutions has had to confront from the first day it opened its doors. Its applications are used by thousands of people across the world; young and old alike, business and home users, regardless, their apps must bridge multiple divides. Learn the process that InContext uses and has had to adapt over the last few years as its user base has expanded and it’s shifted from obscure technology to mainstream.

SPEAKER:
Tracey Wiedmeyer is Co-Founder and CTO of InContext Solutions, a 4 year old start up providing immersive 3D technologies that help retailers and manufacturers understand their customers better. Their solutions are used by many of the Fortune 50 Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturers and retailers too quickly and cost effectively test real world hypotheses in a simulated world. He's lead InContext's product development and engineering teams since founding the company and has a unique perspective on product development as it relates to a start-up providing unique software and services to very large, demanding companies and why design of elegant applications should be first and foremost in any start-ups evolution. His passion involves creating software products and solutions that hit that emotional note for end users - if in doing so he can solve a few technical challenges, even better!

Doors open at 5:30 pm with presentation starting at 6:00 pm. There will be plenty of opportunity for Q&A and networking after Tracey's presentation.

    Anyone have advice on parking?

    May 7, 2013

    • Judi W.

If you get lucky, there's street (meter) parking along Wells Street. Or there are parking garages on Wells just to the south and north of our meeting place, which is the building at the corner of Wells/Jackson.

Kev, thanks for asking. Thanks for the answers too. I'm taking the Metra instead of driving. Looking forward to my first Meetup!
