Having Trouble Hiring Tech Talent? Apprenticeships - The Future in Tech
Details
Building and Growing an Apprenticeship Program
The tech talent shortage often discussed these days is very real. Experienced web developers, mobile app developers, web/mobile designers, and UX designers are in short supply and in high demand. If you’re the owner or talent manager of a business, then this topic should be on the tip of your tongue, and perhaps it’s time to put an Apprenticeship program in place.
When it came time to grow Obtiva in 2007, it was clear to Dave Hoover that they needed a two-pronged approach: They would hire the best people they could afford, and they would ‘grow’ great developers through an apprenticeship program. In this talk, Dave will step through the evolution of this apprenticeship program, its progression from a team of 5, then to a consultancy of 50, then to an engineering department of 500.
