"Nobody does the holidays like MSI. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind seasonal celebration by joining us for Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light, a Chicago tradition which began in 1942 with a single tree dedicated to the Allies of World War II.

As always, the Museum’s 45-foot Grand Tree takes center stage in the Rotunda with more than 30,000 lights and 1,000 ornaments, surrounded by more than 50 smaller trees beautifully decorated by volunteers from Chicago’s ethnic communities to represent their various cultures and holiday traditions. Stroll through the trees, enjoy intermittent falling “snow” and savor the performances on the Holiday Stage. School choral groups perform during the week, and ethnic song and dance performances take place on the weekends in conjunction with the exhibit." (description from the MSI website)

MSI is a great place to visit any time of the year, however during the Christmas season it is especially fun because of the Christmas trees. We could meet for the regular meet-up on Saturday and then go together to check it out. We could also see an Omnimax film if interested.

The tickets are $15 ($13 for seniors) - less for the Chicago residents. I think the Omnimax movie is $8.

* Another meetup group or two will be invited so the RSVP count might not be accurate. I will try to update as accurately as I can closer to the date.

Wanted to also mention that, in case anyone wanted to make our show a meetup group event, I'd be happy to offer a special discount ticket link. Just let me know!

Love the Museum's holiday celebration! Our flamenco dance studio, Flamenco Chicago, just performed there last Sunday : ). Also wanted to let group members know that everyone is invited to Flamenco Chicago's fall studio spectacular, Twlight at the Alhambra from 2-5pm on Dec. 9. We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
