Announcing a new Meetup for Chicago Fantasy, Speculative and Science Fiction Community!
What: Bristol Renaissance Faire
When: July 18,[masked]:00 AM
Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
We'll be gathering at the Bristol Renaissance Faire on July 18th. Some of us will be in renaissance garb, but don't feel obligated, jeans are fine and are more common anyway! Faire is the best open-air mall you've ever been too, with entertainment scattered throughout. I recommend the garlic mushrooms and sassafras root beer, and I highly recommend you visit Dirk & Guido, The Swordsmen, at their main stage event.
The Faire boasts a beautiful 30-acre site with open-air stages featuring Swordfighters, Minstrels and Jesters. Every Faire day recreates a time when knights were noble, maids were merry, and turkey legs, titanic. Once you enter the portal gates, you travel back in time to the year 1574, and you've walked right into an exciting village festival day. It's time to eat, drink and be merry!
Nearly 200 artisans display their wares in the Bristol Faire Marketplace. Potters, glass blowers, jewelers and forgers busily go about their work, as shoppers discover rare finds around every corner. Offerings range from sterling silver jewelry, hand-thrown pottery and fine crafted leather works to hickory walking sticks, rich tapestries to hammered pewter.
Also note: Wine Tasting! - Saturday, July 18. Cotswold Commons, 2:00 - 5:00. Sample close to 25 wines from Sommelier Winery in Kenosha and mingle with other Faire-goers during this three-hour event. The $15 event charge includes a souvenir Bristol Renaissance Faire wine glass. You many purchase tickets on the day of the event, in advance of the tasting time, at Guest Relations Gazebo.
