The coolest place hands-down was 15feet from the Gulf of Mexico on an island in the FL Everglades. Amazing!!! Favorite campground... IN Dunes State Park. They allow dogs and you get to hike through the forest to the beach. We go every year.
No preference on campsites and we don't always have to bring my outdoor dog. Potlucks are fun. We can bring our own food.
My furthest camping road trip to date was Turkey Run State Park last year. Guess the distance depends on the perks of the destination. I regularly road trip to STL to see the Cardinals and that's a 5-6hour trip. When I camp, a minimum of two nights.
We tent camp. No preference for electricity... just need to know which coffee pot to bring. Showers depend on the length of the trip and proximity to clean, swimable water. Especially if I bring my three teens :-)
I always try to drag family & friends to the IN Dunes campground in Chesterton... Summer months are best. However, I'd love to head to Johnson's Shut-In State Park in Missouri (rocks in river are so smooth they can be used as short waterslides) in the summer. Also, never stayed overnight at Devil's Head State Park in WI (love to try rapelling as well as hike, boat and fish).
Hi. I love spending time outdoors and would like to meet others who share my interests.
