Telling Stories With Data

A double header! This month will be all about telling stories with data.

First, we will hear from Professor Shlomo Argamon, who is the program director of IIT’s new online Master of Data Science program. This program will bring up the next gen of data scientists, who are to extract insights from the massive amounts of data in the world, construct a narrative, and provide solutions. He will explain how the program teaches you how to explore data using high-level mathematics, statistics, and computer science; how to analyze data, visualize your results, and articulate your discoveries; and how to think critically and communicate insights.

Then, we will hear from Adam Kanouse from Narrative Science. Narrative Science makes a living taking data using automation to create a narrative story around it, giving people a fast and simple way to understand the data. It is a fantastic concept, and they are looking at working data around candidates and elections.
