During his time as Deputy Mayor of New York City and two-term Mayor of Indianapolis, Stephen's innovation and thought leadership changed how many cities, including our own, view technology as a driver of physical and civic improvement. He is now the Daniel Paul Professor of Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, where he is inspiring others at scale.

Stephen is the author of The Responsive City. This book is at the top of the list of every civic technologists' library. It is widely considered the ultimate resource for public officials, government staff, and civic leaders to understand how to leverage new technologies and data platforms to fulfill the promise of effective and efficient local government.
