This Saturday, treat yourself to a Silent Film Screening at the Music Box!!!

Join us for the dramatic story of a jazz-crazed wife!

Based on the hit 1926 Broadway play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, Chicago had its origins in “sob sister” articles Watkins wrote for the Chicago Tribune, particularly those depicting the plight of Belva Gaertner and Beulah Sheriff Annan, both accused of killing their respective lovers.

Produced by Cecil B. DeMille and directed by the little-known Chicago-native Frank Urson, the film version of Chicago stars Phyllis Haver as the greedy, heartless, but oh-so-sexy murderess Roxie Hart and top 1920s supporting player Robert Edeson as Roxie’s attorney, an expert at manipulating jurors, judges, the media, and the US justice system.

I'm so sorry - it is not the fact that it IS raining, it is the intensity and steadiness OF the rain. We just have too much walking to do, before and after our brown line L ride. Even with umbrellae, I think we'd be rather soaked by the time we arrived.

Maybe next time. I hope you have fun.

I think we are probably much more of a firm "yes" for the movie tomorrow, now that my wife wants to go, too. I did change my RSVP to "+1"

Ellie - I wondered about that, but I was pretty sure you meant 11:30 AM for the noon movie.

Ayala - I look forward to finally meeting you tomorrow. I would really like to visit your studio, and someday I will - maybe tomorrow, but we had planned on going to Millennium Park to hear Gustav Holst's "The Planets," which we played at our wedding (20 years ago).

I am so sorry, I just noticed that event was set for 11:30 pm, NOT am. The movie starts at NOON.

I input "Yes," but I'm a maybe. Given that it is meeting to go into the theater (and not ordering food or reserving places), I'm hoping you don't need too firm of an answer right now, and Saturday morning, by 9 or 10, I will change it if I do not intend to go. Mostly it is just "how do I feel about schlepping myself up on the brown line," and "what's the weather like?"

I hope that is OK for now.
