Since January 2006, we have 25-50 people meeting on two Saturdays per month. We play a variety of games, and members are good about bringing new titles to try all the time. New players are always coming and welcome. We play from 11 am to 5 pm. It is a relaxed environment, come be yourself and learn a new game!
Newcomers are always welcome!
I get asked this question a lot :) If you are new to the meetup, new to Euro games, or both, then WELCOME! Please know that John and I go out of our way to make sure that people feel comfortable! There are no "cliques" in this meetup, and games nearly always have players who don't know each other. If you are nervous at first, introduce yourself to me (or John) and we'll help you get into your first game :)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Do I need to know how to play [game name]?
Nope! Just bring yourself and have fun! 99% of the time, you will have someone to teach you a game who's played it before. Occasionally, if someone is trying a game out for the first time, they will announce it so everyone at the table knows they will learn it together.
2. Can I bring [game name]?
Of course! Keep in mind that people choose games independently and by consensus, so you may not always get the players interested to bring it to the table.
3. What's this "suggestion donation" that is on the front page?
If you feel like it, I'm always happy to accept a couple of dollars to help maintain the group. Money primarily goes to funding the fees to Meetup.com, and occasionally to buying new games to bring to our meetups. It is TOTALLY voluntary, and I'm always incredible grateful.
4. Is it important to RSVP?
When attending, then absolutely YES! I need those numbers to measure when we outgrow a location (since generally we have been growing over time). If not attending, then no, it's not critical at all.
5. What games are available?
LOTS! If there is something you want us to bring, mention it in your RSVP and John and I will do our best to bring it along. Our collection is listed here:
Keep in mind there are a handful of games that we will not bring because they are exceptionally rare or valuable, but otherwise, anything goes! If we don't have it, someone else usually does :)
