Enjoy Custer's Last Stand Street Fair in Evanston

Details

Meetup Members Maike of Maike’s Marvels (www.MaikesMarvels.com) and Jason McPhillips (www.studiomcphillips.com) will be sharing Booth #48 at Custer’s Last Stand in Evanston June 15 and 16. Maike will be showcasing pendant and encaustic desktop mini creations while Jason will have paintings, drawings and prints on hand.

The 42nd annual fair will be held on June 15th and 16th from 10:00 am till 9:00 pm around Custer Avenue, between Washington and Main Street and spilling out to Chicago Avenue in Evanston. This is Maike's first time as a vendor at the fair, but it has been her favorite family fair to attend for a decade. 250 Artists and craftspeople from across the nation come together to exhibit and sell paintings, ceramics, pottery, photographs, jewelry, graphic arts, wearable art, country and home craft, antiques and collectables. They are joined by 150 local businesses and commercial exhibitors (http://www.mainstreetevanston.org/) who put on an old fashioned Sidewalk Sale. More than 30 food vendors offer a full international menu.
The best part is the street entertainment, with a civil war reenactment, jugglers and comedians setting up street-side theatre, numerous musicians, and a whole kids' entertainment section. Don't miss this fun weekend family excursion.

Meet at booth #48, at the corner of Main Street and Custer Avenue, near Lupita's Restaurant, around 840 Custer Avenue.

The Fair is accessible via the CTA Purple Line, Main Street Station, as well as Metra's Union Pacific North (UP-N) line (Chicago to Kenosha), also directly at the Evanston Main Street stop. http://metrarail.com/metra/en/home/maps_schedules/metra_system_map/up-n/station.MAINST.html
Note that Chicago Avenue will be closed as of Kedzie Street with Traffic detours. You can find Street Parking on Judson and Hinman Avenues (East of Chicago Ave). Meters are free on Sundays. Garage locations are here: http://www.cityofevanston.org/parking/lots-garages/

Custer's Last Stand (www.custerfair.com) began in 1972 on historic Custer Avenue named after General George Armstrong Custer in gratitude for his service to the Union during the Civil War. Each year since then artists, craftspeople, antique dealers, restauranteurs, entertainers and the business community get together with 70,000 attendees for this award-winning Northshore tradition.

The entertainment at Custer's Last Stand amazes and delights. In Eiden Park the kids have a great time enjoying the kid centered exhibits, receiving free balloon sculptures from the terrific teen clowns of Starfish Learning Center, and enjoying the amazing Jugglerman-Adam Zeisler. If that were not enough Piccolo Theatre presents the Marvelous Medicine Show extravaganza. Fifty variety performers perform throughout the fair amazing their audiences with juggling, magic, comedy, music, aerial acts and stage shows in Piccolo Theatre.

Come to the fair. See old friends and make new friends. Admission to Custer Fair is free (with a suggested donation of $1), so save the dates and get ready for a rompin', stompin', shoppin' good time!
