R and Hadoop: Crunching Big Data

Details
Ever wondered how people run R on bazillions of machines to crunch gazillions of gigabytes? Well, they often use Hadoop.
The August meetup for the Chicago R Users Group will be a joint meet-up with the Chicago Hadoop Users Group . Guest speaker Jeffrey Breen will tell us about "Running R on Hadoop".
When: Wednesday, August 15, 5:15pm
Where: Boeing Building at 425 W. Randolph, in the Nokia offices
Jeffrey's presentation will offer real world examples to get started with R on Hadoop including the best practices, libraries and general how-to. Example code will be available after the presentation to give everyone a jump start.
Jeffrey is president and co-founder of Atmosphere Research Group, a technology and market research firm focused on the travel industry. He has held leadership positions at Forrester Research and the Yankee Group. He’s done some cool Twitter mining, too.
