Tired of losing good friends to the mommy or daddy track after they have kids and then drop off the face of the earth?  Tired of conversations over dinner and at parties being focused on the kids, schools, and  getting home in time to let the sitter go?  

I started this group because the vast, vast majority of my friends cannot relate to me on this important part of life:   the fact that I've never had any interest in having children.   Most of my friends and family, who I love, are parents, and most do not understand my choice to forego children.   Some think I'm selfish. Others take it personally that I have chosen something that is the opposite of what they've chosen.   I enjoy my friends and family members' children, but I am always thrilled to go home and enjoy my childfree life.

And, although there are other childfree meetup groups, all the others I've seen that are in New York City, or near New York City, are not in Manhattan, and many are only for singles.   So I started ChildfreeNYC!  Are there any other childfree (by choice) women/men/couples on the island who are interested in getting together and not talking about diapers and daycare?   Am I the only one in Manhattan?
