Turville and Ibstone Bluebell Walk

  • May 19, 2013 · 11:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Walk length 10 miles/16 km approx. Circular.

A picturesque walk between the villages of Lane End, Turville and Ibstone, taking in some fantastic Bluebell woods.

The Bluebell season is towards the end of April and early May, and some of the woods on this walk are excellent to see them.

Bluebells start growing in autumn and flower in the spring before other forest plants to avoid competition.

The date for this walk should coincide with a great spectacle of blue and purple flowering, however as this is a natural phenomenon we will have to see what we get on the day (the bluebell season is expected late this year).

Meeting and Transport

Meet at 10.45am for the walk to start at 11.00am

Car: Lane End Parish Council car park, Lane End, HP14 3ER (opposite Lane End Village Hall, see photo and map right).

There is no public transport for this walk, I would encourage you to seek other members who are driving.

Please make a note of the organizers numbers - Leon[masked] and Colin 07709305681.

RSVP: The organizers monitor non-attendance;we will ban anyone who 'no shows' twice for our events. You are also asked to please update your RSVP at least 24 hours beforehand.
Please see our RSVP policy

Weather:
Updates will be posted; see also BBC Weather
Please see our weather policy

Dog Policy: As a group we allow and enjoy dogs on our walks however we do ask dog owners to read our dog policy

Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You must wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking boots, warm and wet weather clothing and carry sufficient food and water. Please see our Terms and Conditions.

I've had a great (and tiring) weekend with the Chiltern Explorers. Thanks Isabelle, Leon and Colin for organising another great meet up.
By the time I got home I had walked more then 31,000 steps according to my pedometer - I should sleep very well tonight!
To everyone off to Brecon Beacons for the Bank Holiday weekend, have a fabulous time. I look forward to seeing all you comments and pictures!

Hi Gang! i've finally booked it! After my team dropped out I had to decide if I was still mentally up for it. I am! So... I'm climbing the highest mountain outside the Himalayas at 6962m, Aconcagua 10th Jan over 3 weeks for @GivingAfrica to continue building schools - ascending with @mountaconcagua - http://www.justgiving.com/6962 - it's going be hell but awesome! Time to raise lots of sponsorship!!! Chris Dadd

Sammy, most of our walks start from a train station outside London, normally 30 to 60 mins by train from central London. For some this is not possible though.
