We had seven hikers, three of whom hiked the entire way on a glorious blue sky, sunshiny day. About four miles into the hike we climbed steeply uphill onto the Milton Lake esker. This was the most beautiful and amazing natural phenomenon I have seen on the nineteen wheel hikes. An esker is a high ridge, with the ground dropping steeply hundreds of feet on both sides of the ridge. The ridge continued for three tenths of a mile. Tall red pines grew along the ridge, which was just wide enough for the path. I saw a beautiful wildflower, Purple Virgin's Bower. What a fitting end to my one hundred plus miles of hiking. This last hike turned out to be ten miles instead of the nine I expected it to be. I want to thank my husband,Jerry, who did all the technical work associated with this project and Darrel who hiked and provided the second car needed for the hikers on fourteen of the nineteen hikes. I am truly grateful for their help.

Very nice, good weather, good folks. Thanks to Beth and Jerry for going out of their way so I could do half of the hike.
