Spark Smorgasbord

Halloween and Election 2015 have come and gone and now Thanksgiving is on the horizon. While you are eagerly anticipating your plate of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, why not come join your fellow Sparkers for an evening of networking, pizza, and a year-end smorgasbord of interesting Spark topics. Once again, Illumination Works has graciously offered to host our meeting at their Mason facility as well as provide pizza and drinks. Give the logistical challenges of scheduling a meetup during the holiday season, this will be our last gathering for this year. Look for us to be back in the New Year with an exciting list of topics and speakers. Please let us know if you would like to present next year on a topic, as we will be working on the scheduling during the remainder of the year.

6:30 - 6:45 - Spark Survey Results

6:45 - 7:00 - Spark Packages - There are a number of useful, opensource utility packages that are available for use with Spark. We'll cover some of the more interesting ones as well as explain how to integrate them in your Spark programs as well as how to contribute a package.

7:00-7:15 - Spark 2015 Europe Wrap-up - Elsevier had a number of people attend as well as present. We'll present the highlights as well identify the session videos we recommend viewing.

7:15 - 7:30 - Text Mining at Elsevier w/ Spark - We'll discus various process flows and tools we leverage at Elsevier.

7:30 - ??? - Open Discussion
