Roosevelt Island is an oasis of quiet and green right in the middle of New York City, but it is not accessible by foot or bicycle directly from Manhattan. On this bike tour, we will cross the Queensboro Bridge, ride through some of the greener parts of Long Island City, and take the Welfare Island bridge onto the island. We will ride around the entire island and stop for a rest in South Point Park, where we can enjoy some beautiful nature, the best views of Midtown Manhattan anywhere, and I hope some interesting conversation about the green future of New York.

We will meet at the Manhattan bike path entrance to the Queensboro Bridge at 1st Ave and 60th St at 1030am sharp.

Bikers in Queens or Brooklyn can join us on the island, with an expected arrival at South Point Park at 1130am.

Bring something to eat for lunch and a drink.

We will return to Manhattan via a different route through Long Island City.

This will be a leisurely bike tour, suitable for most riders.
