What do you hope to learn from Cityplot?

We hope to learn how to create a community of urban farmers.

Does growing your own food excite you?

Do you feel urban agriculture is important? Why or why not?

Food security is under threat all over the world and we feel it is important to re-learn some of the lost skills of self sufficiency. We need to learn how to feed ourselves in a healthy and sustainable way because blind trust in commercial food producers is not working very well for the environment. Even in the city, we can grow some of our own food and it's been a very rewarding experience that we want to share with other city dwellers who are becoming aware of all the issues surrounding this basic human need.

What gardening topics would you like to see in future Cityplot workshops?

Cityplot Amsterdam is run by Ann Doherty and Suzanne Oommen. Planting seeds and growing food in the city is what makes us really happy and excited and we want to share that excitement with others.
