Dr Susan Grant Muller
Senior Lecturer at the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds
Acting as a co-investigator for the Centre for Integrated Energy Research (CIER) Dr Susan Grant Muller is a statistician with research niche in transport technologies and social informatics under the rubric of low carbon energy futures. Her research is focused on the smart (ICT enhanced) energy system, that influences the behaviours of energy consumers, and the potential for ICT to catalyse behaviour change and reduce energy demand; including approaches to designing complex socio-technical systems.

MK:Smart is a £16 million smart city project to exploit big data as a catalyst for sustainable development and economic growth. As deputy director Gerd is responsible for Citizen innovation, intelligent energy, data skills and education. Gerd is working on a number of projects including:
• Smart Cities Milton Keynes
• Internet School of Things working with schools across the UK to define how the Internet of (School) Things can enhance learning in science and other subjects
• GAMBAS - EU research on developing an Internet-of-Things platform for smart city applications
