Cleanweb London Message Board › The first Cleanweb UK meetup of 2013 is tomorrow!
We've had a couple of messages asking us if we're still going ahead with the meetup tomorrow, in the face of all the snow bringing the UK to a grinding halt.
We are indeed going ahead with the Cleanweb UK meetup tomorrow, and we'll be hearing from speakers in academia, government and startups on how open data is being used around the world to address climate change.
1) Doors at the ODI open at 6:30, and speakers start at 7:00pm prompt
Like our last talks night, we're opening the doors at 6:30.
There will be some refreshments like last time, and we're hoping they'll last through when we take a quick break at the halfway mark to allow for some chatter and mingling.
Here's the rough order for the night:
7:00 - Open sustainability: can opening up knowledge save the planet?
Jack Townsend, University of Southampton
7:30 - Doing the sustainability math: can open data help us work out 9 billion divided by 1?
7:45 - Brief break for refreshments, chatter, mingling, networking
8:00 - Using open data to stimulate energy-efficient behaviour
Seb Junemann & Jamie Young, Homely
8:20 - Two years of open environmental data releases
Tom Chance, Greater London Authority
8:40 Wrap up, and off to the Fox.
2) Please check your RVSP
We have a waiting list, so please, if you can't make it tomorrow, please update your RSVP to make space for someone on the waiting list.
You'll make someone else very happy and the glow from your selfless act of generosity will help keep you warm all day.
3) Can't make it? You might still be able to catch the talks…
Once thing we're experimenting with is recording the talks on the night for people who couldn't make them - so if snow conspires against you tomorrow, you may still be able to see them a little later in the month.*
4) We want to hear from you!
Given the success of the talk night formats, we'll be moving to running them each month, which means we're on the look out for more speakers - so if you think you have a talk inside you, or reckon you'd be up for a 5 minute lightning talk, please get in touch.
Thanks, and hopefully see you tomorrow!
Chris, James, Jack and Jason
* If you're familiar with filming with DSLRs (we've got a Nikon D5100 and tripod for the night, we just need someone who can use it), and you'd be up for helping film the events, please send an email to email@example.com.
