James Gifford will be presenting on beginning git - the version control system that was created by Linus Torvalds for the Linux Kernel, and has since become the hipsters SVN. For the basic overview of Git, you can take a look here: http://gitimmersion.com/

Sweet. Just joined bitbucket. Just wondering how they can afford to offer unlimited space.

Paul, yes, it looks like Atlassian's bitbucket added support for Git and Mercurial. I'm looking at the Wikipedia's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_revision_control_software and never realized there were that many out there.

Just got an email announcing that code hosting bitbucket is now offering GIT as well: https://bitbucket.org/ and possibly even mercurial too?

Nice wide ranging discussion kicked off by solid overview from James. One CMS down, how many more to go? (bazaar, mercurial, ...)

Found the GIT community book. Here it is. Looks to have some good documentation.

Alrighty, I presented on this Saturday, and here are my slides: https://github.com/jrgifford/Beginning-Git

I'll be updating them with more of the "geekery" side of things - I'll cover a quick Git hook example, and a few other odds and ends.
