Hi,

I'm making first step to Ubuntu, and want to set up web server for my capstone (Computer Networking System).

I got apache2 on machine (VM), it worked fine at first time, then I use VM on another computer, it didn't work anymore, couldn't find the problem anywhere @@.

And also, should I install apache2 after joining the domain (from Windows 2008: Primany Domain Controller), or it doesn't matter when I install apache2?

Hope any1 give any advice for setting up web server with Ubuntu (both desktop and server).

P/S: I myself prefer the server.

Hello Zachary,

There's not really enough information in your post to really troubleshoot the problem you're having. What version and version number of Ubuntu are you using? Are you just setting up a basic Apache httpd web server or are you also installing modules like mod_php, mod_perl, etc.? Since you're using VMs, what virtualization technology are you using, Xen, KVM, etc.? Are they bridged or using NAT or a private interface to the physical network interface(s) on the server?

It shouldn't matter whether you're installing the Apache httpd web server before or after joining a Microsoft Windows domain.
