As some of yall have noticed, many of our meetups have been for events that are run by the Web Development SIG. I want to thank them for their great presentations, fantastic information and for considering us. They will hopefully continue to post their events on our Calendar and welcome our members to their meetings. All the feedback I've gotten has been really good, so if you get a chance, make sure to attend their meetings.
Stuart thanks for all your help!
With that in mind we've been discussing with some locals to the west side about getting meetups over here on a monthly basis, and perhaps study groups again as well. So I'm just wanting to gauge what topics interest yall the most, whether weeknights or weekends would be best for most of yall and I want to make sure our additional meetups don't conflict with Web Development SIG or even other groups that are in our area (such as the CWSA). That way, everyone that wants to go to multiple meetups, won't have to choose between one or another, but could make several in a month.
As well I'm teaming up with another Gal I know that runs a networking group. She charges for her meetups (for certain fees she has), but this months meeting which i attended, and the one in August are both web business centric. So I'll be posting information on her meetup in case anyone wants to attend.
In another couple of days I'll be posting a poll to get more information about just what yens are lookin' for. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to email me or the group.
As a note the location we're looking at for our meetup will be charging us, but we're working on a couple of sponsors to support this. When I've got the details finalized, you'll see them added under the "Our Sponsors" section of the meetup.com site.
As we get these additional meetups going, I'll be lookin' forward to seein' some of yens again and meetin' some of yens for the first time.
Many Kind Regards, Joey The Long Haired Half Bald Frantz :D
Howdy Yens! Welcome to our meetup! We're here to help folks come together to learn about and discuss making the web, web pages, web programming, all that sorta thing. Membership is open to all. And it's free.
We've got members that run all the gamuts. Folks that ain't never touched a computer, serious computer gurus, and everthing in between. Some of us are the suit and tie sort, and others like motorcycles and tattooes. Newcomers always comment about how much they like our relaxed atmosphere and how everyone can immediately participate in discussions. We're professionals with personality.
Our meetups have a wide range as well. We've got monthly presentations, workshops, study groups, social events and soon all day weekend events, online training and even screencasts! All totally free http://webdesign.meetup.com/396/pages/Often_Free/
We are company neutral. We emphasize accessibility, web and design standards, and programming conventions.
