Jekyll 2.0

Learn about Jekyll, the static site generator brought to us from some of the fine folks at Github.

6:00-7pm - Kata / Pairing / Networking
7:00-? - Jekyll 2.0 Workshop

* there will be space available if you're interested in Kata / Pairing / Networking for the entire event.

Come learn how you can use Jekyll to build a static website, blog, or portfolio in this introduction to Jekyll. We'll be covering Jekyll jargon, configuration, site generation, layouts, liquid templating, and pushing your site to the public for free on GitHub pages. We'll also be exploring how to use the new features in Jekyll 2.0, with a focus on the most significant change -- collections.

Hey, I noticed this meetup a while back. I'm going to be giving a talk on the same subject for a meetup in Lima, Peru. Is there any chance you could share slides/notes/tips based on how the workshop went? Really love Jekyll and I'm excited to share it with people who may not be familiar with it. Thanks!

It was super cool meetup. It really was a pleasure meeting Joel and Persa and seeing James Gifford whom I worked with during the Rails Girls Summer of Code. Loved getting caught up a bit with the Jekyll. Definitely a thumbs up for a fantastic group of coders :)

@Presa: Yes, I think it would be great to have you on the boat for the day

@Joel, let's put it on the calendar! Any way I can work from the boat that day? Hard for me to get up to Cleveland on time for the 6:00 time.

@Persa, actually I think 7/10 would be a good date. The week prior would be a big holiday week and I think I'll be on vacation then as well. Thanks for stepping up! :) Should I go ahead and schedule?

@Joel: I would love to present in July, but I am on vacation the first week of that month. Would we be able to have this session sometime in the middle of the month? Either the week of the 6th or the week of the 13th? The week of the 20th I'm out of town as well.

I see that Jekyll 2.0 has now been released, probably a great time to think about scheduling this one. I also see that the release notes mention an active member of the group, Persa Zula. Great work Persa! Let me know if you'd be interested in presenting for this meetup, if not perhaps we can find another volunteer. I think it would be great if we could queue this one up for July.

I'm using Octopress for my blog, which is built on Jekyll. Would love to learn more about the underpinnings
