Southside Meetup: Ruby Quiz night

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/2/7/6/event_57869302.jpegIt's Rock Paper Scissors night at the Southside Meetup! But since we're all devs, why spend the energy throwing our hands when we could just write some code to do it for us??

The basis for the night is two fold. First, write a strategy that can be plugged into the Ruby Quiz #16 Rock Paper Scissors Game (http://www.rubyquiz.com/quiz16.html). The second is to add tests and refactor the poorly written game engine (I counted at least 4 case statements. Yes, really.)

We encourage everyone to try and tackle both the strategy and refactoring before the meetup so we can discuss approaches, review refactorings, and dojo it before testing out our strategies against one another.

We will have copies of Eloquent Ruby (http://www.amazon.com/Eloquent-Ruby-Addison-Wesley-Professional/dp/0321584104/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1316716949&sr=1-4) and the Rails 3 Way (http://www.amazon.com/Rails-Way-Addison-Wesley-Professional-Ruby/dp/0321601661/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1316716989&sr=1-1) to hand out to active participants!!
