December Meetup

Details
This month we will have talks again.
Talk #1: Neo4J with a side of Clojure, by Steven Tobin
Graph databases are among the most interesting technologies to come out of the NoSQL movement, and Neo4J is probably the most well-known of these. This talk will introduce the concepts behind graphs and graph databases, look at Neo4J in detail (including its query language Cypher), and end with a few approaches to interop between Clojure and Neo4J.
Bio: Steven Tobin works for the Web Summit as a Senior Data Scientist. He previously worked as a researcher in the University of Melbourne, looking at novel applications and optimisation strategies for graph-based algorithms.
Talk #2: Clojure Sequences, by Dan Kersten
The core sequence library is big - there are a lot of useful functions here that can make writing functional code with immutable data a lot easier, but this is only possible if you know what functions exist. This is a beginner talk that will go over some of the lesser-known but very useful sequence functions.
Bio: Dan is a backend developer in FieldAware. Previously, he founded two startups, worked as a contractor in web development and embedded systems, as well as work on SMS anti-spam/fraud systems. He has been interested in Clojure since 2009.
Hosted by Intercom, who are also providing some snacks.
Pizza provided by CircleCI
