First meeting - Let's get acquainted!
Details
Hello everyone,
I am thrilled to announce the inaugural meeting of Clojure Montreal. We will be making history with this best-kept-secret extraterrestrial technology that is the Clojure ecosystem for performant, fast-delivery, scalable, full-stack web development.
For this first meeting, previous programming experience in any programming language is a required. (Stay tuned I am planing a separate parallel tutorial series to introduce people who are completely new to programming, or who can't program to the joy of programming with Clojure)
We will assume you have no prior exposure to Clojure or to functional programming. In this first meeting we will take the very first steps to get acquainted with functional programming and with the syntax of Clojure, followed by an overview of the development tools and environment. There will be hands-on programming during the meeting, you are encouraged to bring your laptop to take part in the exercise. Or you could just simply following the discussion. This meeting will be the first of an ongoing tutorial series to explore the many aspect of the Clojure Stack. We will start by walking through the well-designed and tested curriculum of ClojureBridge:

The ultimate goal is to build a Montreal community of Clojure Developer s who will be comfortable to take advantage of the power of Clojure in their next front-end or back-end development project, by the end of the Summer 2026.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone who are bold enough to embark on this perilous journey into the depth of the dark unknown universe of functional programming with Closure, in full knowledge of the lurking danger of uncountable armies of Parentheses awaiting to engulf and digest your neatly crafted programs into an unrecognizable mass of unreadable and uncompilable code.
May the Force be with you!
Many Thanks to ctrlweb for hosting this meeting at their office, and for graciously providing us with "mind-bending" refreshment.
