Cloud Foundry PaaS and OpenStack IaaS are fast becoming the de facto standards in cloud computing. Cloud Foundry has revolutionized the application development paradigm while OpenStack has transformed infrastructure management and operations. Both platforms are powerful, complex, and cutting edge – helping to deliver high quality software projects faster, better, and more efficiently. But how do you get these two systems working together quickly and seamlessly? Setting up a production Cloud Foundry PaaS is no small feat and becoming an expert in OpenStack can take a lot of time, money, and effort. In this session, John Wetherill, ActiveState Developer Evangelist, and Craig Peters, Mirantis Product Manager, provide a live demonstration of quickly you can set up your own multi-node scalable PaaS on an OpenStack infrastructure, using the powerful OpenStack Application Catalog (Murano). • Provision a multi-node Stackato cluster on OpenStack

• Deploying applications to Stackato

• Demo autoscaling the whole stack, VMs, and containers

John Wetherill
John, ActiveState's Technology/PaaS Evangelist, spent much of his career designing and building software at a handful of startups, at Sun Microsystems, NeXT Inc., and in the smart grid and energy space. His biggest passion is for tools, languages, processes, or systems that improve developer productivity and quality of life. He now spends his time immersed in cloud technologies, focusing on PaaS, microservices, and containerization.

Craig Peters
Craig, a product manager at Mirantis, has spent his career making complex systems easier to consume in a variety of industries. His mission to improve the developer experience in distributed systems has developed through work on Documentum, Hadoop, and even Lotus Notes. His experience has been forged through experience at EMC, Yahoo!, Strava, and HGST. His current responsibilities include enabling PaaSes, containers, and analytic workloads on OpenStack.
