Mapping Party, June 2015

Details
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Mapping_parties
The best way of gathering fresh map data is going on the field - a mapping party will give us a chance to:
• record new paths & roads in Cluj based on GPS tracks
• update the navigation restrictions (one ways, turn restrictions, roundabouts, traffic calmers, etc.)
• add & update the existing POIs
• gather street view images for Mapillary (http://www.mapillary.com/map)
• have fun
Schedule
Saturday
The event will be a 2 day long event - the first day, Saturday, we will meet at the Telenav office and learn the basics of "field work" (so that when we hit the roads we'll know what to do).
Requirements:
• smartphone or other GPS recording device (fully loaded)
• notebook or other form of taking notes
• walking shoes :)
Around 12:00 we'll hit the streets, split into teams and collect data.
At 17:00 we'll meet back at the Telenav office to centralize collected data, have a slice of pizza and drink a beer together.
Sunday
The second day we will focus on adding the recorded data to OSM.
Starting from 10:00 we will meet back at the Telenav office to do some JOSM/ID editing - for those not that familiar with editing we'll have a short "How to" session, along with some more experienced mappers around to guide you through your first edits.
Requirements:
• laptop & laptop charger
Q&A
Q1: There is so much happening that weekend in Cluj (i.e. Electric Castle), can I attend just 1 day?
A1: Yes - you can either collect data on Saturday and add it to OSM later or come on Sunday and help us input all the gathered information
Q2: Is a GPS capable smartphone a must if I want to gather data?
A2: No, just let us know and we'll prepare some "walking maps (http://walkingpapers.org/)"
Q3: If I have questions or get lost in Cluj while gathering data, who can I call?
A3: Dragos, 0040751569435
Q4: Can I come with my bike, scooter or car?
A4: Yes, there are areas in Cluj or around Cluj that could use some GPS tracks (Dambul Rotund, Valea Garbaului & more) and if you have a car & a smartphone then you can gather street view images for Mapillary.
