Gazos Creek to Candelabra Tree! (KSU 9:30A HMB & 10:45A San Gregorio)

Join us for a day of Coastside curves and trees! To maximize turnies and have a bit of coffee or breakfast, meet at the HMB Coffee Company at 9A (earlier if you are a slow eater). KSU at 9:30A sharp! We will zig-zag our way to the San Gregorio General Store (see Google map link below) where we will meet other riders. KSU from the General Store at 10:45A, riding Stage Road through Pescadero to Gazos Creek Rd. We will park in a 'low-dust' dirt lot off Gazos Creek Rd. The dirt will support most kickstands, but if you have one with a small footprint, you may wish to bring a flat support. To find the trailhead, you must be with the group. The gargantuous, mutated Candelabra tree is a 30-min, moderate up-hill hike on a single-track trail. We'll break at the Candelabra tree then can double-back or continue further on the trail. We can also discuss the option of a late lunch at Hwy 1 Brewing Company located near Hwy 1 and Gazos. Coming back we will take Hwy 1 North for five miles then jump onto Bean Hollow Road which gives an expansive view of Pescadero while providing big curves. Heading East on Pescadero Creek Road will T-bone us into Hwy 84 where we will go our own way. Reminders; carry some water, snacks, extra pair of socks, possible kick stand support, a way to secure items you don't take on the hike, and wear long pants to hike (poison oak). The trail could be hiked in tennis shoes; I prefer the hiking boots I ride in. The trail is 90%shaded by non-redwood trees. Join us! Please indicate which Meetup spot you will be at.
