Method

Code Boot Camp is a peer to peer learning system, during which you you will be coached and motivated by your team leader while you and your fellow learners will help each other to advance. We believe in learning, not teaching; hence there is no “teacher”, but a team leader who has completed the course previously. Not only does this help to keep the price low, our focus project based application and practice has proven to be the most effective way to learn code.

There is a big online learning component, for which we use Codecademy, a great platform to learn and practice. We will make sure you get to put your learnings into action on your own project and will support you in your endeavors.

There will be a beginners track and an advanced track

Offline and Online

The course learning modules are available online and the group will meet in person once a week for 2 hours in Mitte (5 minutes by foot from S-Bahnhof Friedrichstraße). During these sessions, you will:

• Review your code in the group and get feedback

• Discuss your challenges with the team lead and peers

• Receive support to help you improve your coding skills/ own project

• Be part of our boot camper network and learn of new job opportunities, find co-founders or friends

Tailored to you

There is a beginners track and an advanced track. Both include:

Before the course starts we will tailor the course for your needs:

• Define your 4-week goal: learning modules completed + personal target*

• Determine the number of hours/week needed to achieve the goal

• Outline a 4-week individual lesson plan

The course has the following learning modules:

1. Web Basics: How to build websites with HTML and CSS

2. Web Interactivity: Create animations with jQuery, functions with Javascript

3. Web apps: Learn how to do server side scripting using Ruby on Rails

*A personal target could be to create your own web site using the techniques learned.

Reach your goal and continue learning

Upon completion of the course, you will have reached your goal with help from your leader and your coding peers. Successful students will be offered to become team leaders for upcoming courses with the chance to make an additional income by leading the next peer group.

The team leader role has been the highest goal for most of our past students, because team leaders are paid to advance their own learning, being a team leader is the best way to solidify what you have learned in the last course, it substantially increases the motivation for your own learning and it will look awesome on your CV!
