Appery.io Build Day

**  NOTE:  THE VENUE HAS CHANGED **
We will now be meeting at Drew University's Hall of Sciences on the 3rd floor.

As a follow-up to our last workshop, I thought it would be a good idea to host an Appery.io build day.  This is a chance for you to build that mobile app you've been putting off.  Instead of having the whole group work on a single app, everyone will be working on their own personal app idea.

We will have group leads/advisors on hand to assist you when you get stuck.

For those of you not already familiar with appery.io, we'll be offering a 2-hour "Appery.io Bootcamp" from 10am-noon, the day of.  Please RSVP to that event separately, so we can plan accordingly.

After a few hours of development, we will start demo'ing the apps to the group.

You will need to bring your own laptop for this event.

Just a public service announcement to everyone, Colin Roth and I are going to have a jump rope competition after all the coding festivities (and before the pizza). Anyone else who wants to compete feel free to bring a jump rope.

Colin won the jump rope competition. I finished my half-marathon (which was my only real goal), but did worse than I expected to do. On a positive note, my uncle did a great job not telling me Meb Keflezighi (guy who won Boston Marathon last week, first American in 30+ years) was going to be there, so when I randomly saw him eating pasta at that event on Saturday I was star-struck for the first time in my life. His brother, who runs a sports management company was also there. He said I can make a new website for him (the company that did before is now out of business), and was entertained when I said I could also make a Meb Keflezighi mobile app, obviously with Appery.io so it could be on both Android and iPhone.

no , not provide. i have a chromebook. can i get it along for the coding / app creation session instead of a normal windows/linux laptop. is that ok please.

Your chromebook should be fine. If you want to go to http://appery.io, register for the "standard account" and use promo code: codejunkies , create a new app, and see if the interface comes up for you. I assume it will, but if it doesn't please let me know.

I just got an email from Appery.io. Apparently my subscription using the promo code expires in 7 days. I thought it was supposed to last indefinitely?

the code should last until the end of the year. But the way they have it set up, you just have to re-enter the code when the account expires. You won't lose any of your projects, you'll just get a message saying that the account is suspended and to upgrade. Select the option to upgrade and enter the code again.

I'm pretty sure Chandru and SaVio will want to participate in the jump rope competition (with SaVio getting the surprise come from behind victory, in whatever way victory is measured). A picture of THAT would be a more appropriate banner.
