More about the speakers and sessions:
Richard Millan - Managing Complexity
Abstract:
SOA promises scalability, but it is easy to introduce brittleness and overcomplicate an architecture when the right pieces are not introduced. How does a simple application become complex as time passes by? Distributed systems require a different workflow and perspective. What are the key components that are needed to keep the system reliable and easy to maintain while reducing the overall complexity?
Bio:
Richard Millan is a Rails engineer at Modcloth. He leads the team that is responsible for building the applications used to bring products to the online store, and is actively evolving the system into a distributed architecture.
Vitaly M. Golomb - Design Driven Development
Abstract:
At the core of a successful technology company or product is an elegant solution to a painful problem. Art is an exercise in self-expression. Design ≠ Art. Design is all about solving problems. Design Driven Development ensures that the first version of your app or service provides the target audience the solution (and experience) they need and not just a checklist of features.
Bio:
Vitaly is an entrepreneur and award-winning designer with over 15 years in early stage Internet and software products and professional services. Founder and CEO of Keen Systems, the first cloud-based business automation and ecommerce engine for Print Service Providers. Vitaly is also an active startup advisor focused on product strategy/business models, user experience, user interfaces, brand development, and inbound marketing/user acquisition.
Theo Cincotta - Jenkins & Selenium at Eventbrite
Abstract:
Theo will be discussing how Eventbrite uses Jenkins & Selenium to ensure a solid stable codebase.
Bio:
Theo is a veteran Systems Engineer and has worked at some of the worlds' most trafficked sites including MobiTv, Bebo and most recently Eventbrite. Theo's a rockstar in all senses of the word.
