Projects, matching with volunteers and ideas to get started

Come along to our next meetup where we'll have both volunteer coders and educators share their experiences of being a part of Code the Future projects. If you're a coder, come along to see how you could help out in a school and learn about some great resources on offer. If you're an educator, come and meet some volunteers and see how easy it is to get started with a project in your school.

Mel Cashen:

Mel is an Australian educator passionate about contemporary learning and students centred learning and uses technology to develop global connections, collaborate and create. Mel has taught in primary schools in regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne as well as London. She has also worked at Monash University as an educational designer supporting academics in improving learning and teaching.

Mel is implementing the new Digital Technologies Curriculum in her school and has presented at conferences across Australia about her Systems Thinking approach to the new curriculum and sharing experiences from her school. Mel has been in engaged with Code the Future for well over a year and will be sharing her experiences and opportunities created for students at her school through her Code the Future projects.

Rhys Sullivan: User experience, industrial design, software design, all-round general interface guy. He has over 10 years of experience working in the advertising industry as a developer and technical lead. His expertise covers a very broad range of technologies, from advanced interactive platforms such as the Xbox Kinect and custom hardware, to smartphone app development and server-side systems.

Rhys has been volunteering with Code the Future and will be sharing the project he is involved with and his expert tips for others thinking about volunteering.
